DAQ Software

Data acquisition (DAQ) software is used to acquire data, display data in real time, replay and analyse data, produce reports, transmit data to integrated test beds and export data. Our new Oxygen data acquisition DAQ software is included with our electrical power analysers, and laboratory and mobile data acquisition systems and DAQ hardware systems. Oxygen is the most intuitive and easy-to-use acquisition DAQ software in the test and measurement sector. Unlimited installations for data analysis and reporting are provided (licence free). Common applications are aerospace, automotive, defence, power, and railway test and measurement. Frequently Asked Questions About Data Acquisition Software (DAQ Software)

Need Help Choosing the Right Data Acquisition Software (DAQ Software)?

As you can imagine with a large proportion of engineering activities, choosing the incorrect tool may have serious implications on the results of your measurements. The information contained below is to help visitors make a more informed decision on the Data Acquisition software which is most appropriate for their requirements.

Data acquisition software is used in conjunction with a data acquisition system. It is used for the functions listed below in the measurement process, all available within Oxygen:

  • Configure DAQ system – sensors, digital inputs, record control
  • Acquire and store data
  • Display data in real time
  • Transmit data in real time to other devices
  • Analyse data in real time and in post processing
  • Generate reports
  • Export data in other formats

To configure an input channel, you need to enter input type, range, sensor sensitivity, offset, excitation, and filtering. These are all entered in Oxygen and can be stored in a setup for reuse.

Oxygen supports TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) for TRION-MULTI and TRION-2402-dACC. This enables automatic sensor calibration for devices such as accelerometers, pressure sensors, and load cells.

Oxygen also has a sensor database storing serial number, sensitivity, offset, and excitation, which can be allocated to acquisition channels.

DAQ software is installed on the acquisition system connected to sensors. Oxygen comes pre-installed on DEWE2/3 systems.

It can also be installed on PCs for post-processing, analysis, and reporting. For TRIONet front ends, Oxygen runs on the PC connected via Ethernet or USB.

Oxygen allows real-time display of raw and calculated data (math, statistics, FFT, power groups, strain rosettes, etc.).

Available instruments: analogue/digital meters, charts, scopes, bar graphs, spectrum analysers, XY plots, GPS maps, spectrograms, efficiency maps, power instruments, video feeds, and more.

Multiple screens and multi-monitor setups are supported, ideal for control rooms.

Yes. Oxygen includes a reporting tool with configurable templates, multiple pages, and integration of all visual instruments. Reports can be exported directly to PDF or printed.

Oxygen supports many digital interfaces for receiving/transmitting signals:

Receive & Transmit

  • CAN (requires TRION-MULTI or TRION-CAN)
  • CAN-FD (Vector VN16xx/VN56xx)
  • Ethernet UDP
  • SCPI over Ethernet (remote control)

Transmit

Oxygen can be integrated into larger test cell environments, including drivetrains, dynos, and load control systems.

It supports SCPI over Ethernet for remote control, enabling setup loading, file naming, and automated acquisition control.

Oxygen ensures high-accuracy time stamping with TRION-SYNC-BUS. Synchronisation options include:

  • Absolute: PTP (IEEE 1588), GPS, IRIG
  • Relative: PPS, TRION-SYNC-BUS
  • OS Time Sync (optional)

Yes. Data can be exported in multiple formats, including CSV, TXT, DMD, Excel, Matlab, MDF4, Diadem, Dynaworks, RPC III, and WAV. Export can cover full or trimmed durations and selected channels, with automatic export at measurement end.
