The CD50 String Potentiometer is a linear displacement sensor that uses a flexible cable to measure distance. This sensor has a measurement range of 0-1250mm (50 inches), making it suitable for a wide range of applications that require precise and accurate linear position sensing.

The sensor works by converting the linear motion of the cable into an electrical signal using a potentiometric output. The cable is attached to a spring-loaded spool that rotates as the cable is pulled, changing the position of a wiper along a resistive element. This change in position creates a voltage output that is proportional to the distance travelled by the cable.

The CD50 String Potentiometer has a has a linearity option of ±0.10% of full scale, ensuring reliable and consistent measurement results. With a high resolution of 0.1mm or better depending on the acquisition device, making it suitable for applications that require fine position control.

This sensor has a compact and robust design, with an aluminium housing that provides protection against environmental factors such as dust, water, and vibration. It has a IP54 or optional IP67 protection rating, making it dust-tight and protected against water jets.

The CD50 String Potentiometer is easy to install and use, with a variety of mounting options available. A 1K Ohm Potentiometric element is standard with options of other resistance values by request.
