Amplified IEPE

Integrated Electronics Piezoelectric (IEPE) accelerometers (also known as ICP® or CCDL accelerometers) are a form of piezoelectric sensor, used in the measurement of vibration. They consist of piezoelectric sensing elements, acted upon by a displaced mass, with internal high impedance electronics to convert the charge output to a voltage signal. IEPE accelerometers use a single set of wires for both the constant current power supply and the voltage output signal. The use of piezoelectric technology allows for measurement of far higher frequencies than those found in MEMS based sensors. IEPE accelerometers are the preference in most applications over their unamplified charge mode equivalent. However, the inbuilt electronics will limit the temperature range. Strainsense offer a wide range of IEPE sensors, with frequency responses ranging to 37kHz and up to 5000g dynamic ranges.
